Reduce heating costs and CO2 emissions with ATTB antennas

News

On November 24, 2021, the German Cabinet gave the green light for the new Heating Costs Ordinance. It will take effect from January 2022. The new regulation is intended to give consumers more transparency about their energy consumption, thereby saving money and reducing CO2 emissions (heating and hot water). Germany is thus transposing the EU Energy Efficiency Directive into national law. In the future, consumption information will be available on a monthly basis instead of once a year. From now on, meters and heat cost allocators that are newly installed must be radio-enabled and capable of being read remotely. Existing recording devices must be digitally retrofitted by the end of 2026. Experts believe that consumers can save around 5-10% of their energy consumption through digitalization and thus make an important contribution to reducing CO2 emissions from buildings.

ATTB as a partner of the energy industry

Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg (ATTB) specializes in high-performance, reliable antennas and offers energy suppliers, municipalities and industry customized technology solutions for connecting devices wirelessly. In the field of smart metering, i.e. the digitization of electricity meters, ATTB has already been playing a leading role for many years. The smart meter portfolio includes cabinet-integrated antennas as well as stationary and magnet mount antennas. ATTB's products are already installed in large numbers in private households and companies and are thus field-proven. "With our many years of experience for particularly sophisticated solutions, we are a competent partner for the implementation of the new ordinance in the energy sector," says Tobias Schneider, Smart Energy expert at ATTB. "As with other topics, we will work very intensively and in partnership with energy suppliers, metering point operators, manufacturers of smart metering systems and specialized distributors."
